Nick Zammuto lives and works in the Green Mountains of Southern Vermont, where he writes, records, mixes and masters his records in a small tractor garage converted into a studio.

He was one-half of the beloved experimental collage-pop duo, the Books. He is now the leader of experimental pop group Zammuto, which includes his brother Mikey Zammuto on bass, Sean Dixon on drums, and Nick Oddy on guitar.

We (Tim and Wally) were fortunate enough to meet Nick and the rest of his band when they joined us as a main support on the Gotye Making Mirrors tour in 2012. We loved Zammuto so much, in fact, that we created this label in order to support of the release of their second album Anchor in late 2014. We were also thrilled to bring Zammuto out for their first Australian tour in January 2015, where they were joined on stage by Gotye at venues including the Spiegeltent at Sydney Festival, and Hobart’s cult experimental music festival MOFO.

We are drawn to Nick’s outsider spirit, and to his thoughtful and very human approach to not just his art but also his friendships and family life. His project Zammuto was the perfect first signing for Spirit Level.
